I've spent more than 35 years in the safety world — on factory floors, job sites, and everywhere in between. In that time, I've seen the best of what safety can do: people going home to their families, close calls that became lessons instead of tragedies, teams that genuinely look out for each other. And I've seen the worst of what happen
I've spent more than 35 years in the safety world — on factory floors, job sites, and everywhere in between. In that time, I've seen the best of what safety can do: people going home to their families, close calls that became lessons instead of tragedies, teams that genuinely look out for each other. And I've seen the worst of what happens when it gets ignored.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something was missing. Safety had become boring. Binders on a shelf. Rules people tuned out. Fear-based lectures nobody remembered. But the truth is, safety isn't a corporate checkbox — it's the reason a dad makes it home for dinner, the reason a kid gets to the bus stop okay, the reason a stranger survives a bad day because someone nearby knew what to do.
So, I became the Safety Dude. Not to preach at people, but to talk with them — honestly, plainly, and yeah, sometimes with a little humor. Because safety is too important to be dull, and the people who keep us safe deserve better than a slideshow.
